Other names: bis(η5-pentamethylcyclopentadienyl)silicon, Si(C5Me5)2, SiCp*2
Decamethylsilococene is a main-group metallocene akin to ferrocene. However, instead of unadorned cyclopentadienyl rings, this species features methylated Cp rings to increase the molecule's steric bulk. These methylated Cp rings are often abbreviated Cp* (because a Cp ring with 5 methyl groups sticking out of it kinda looks like an asterisk, get it?).
